Port O Call Inn

Bob Henderson of the Port O’Call Inn in Calgary approached Alvin Reinhard Fritz Architect Inc. in 2006 to be the Prime Consultant on a 7,500 square foot addition to house a substantial water park.

The professional relationship between Alvin Fritz and Bob Henderson has been ongoing over the past 22 years. With expansions to their Best Western Inn in Medicine Hat and Prime Consultant services on a new apartment building in Banff, Alvin Fritz has continued to grow to meet the needs of each design directive.

The project was constructed over an existing parkade, requiring underpinning with micro-piles to address the structural capacity of the water park. A clear design challenge on this project was the complexity of the addition to the existing structure. Stringent code requirements and technological detailing had to be resolved to ensure project success.

The Project was successfully completed in 2009.
