Kaleido at LakeWind

Multi-Family

2008 | Kelowna, BC

Kaleido, in West Kelowna, is in an idyllic location on the edge of an escarpment overlooking the Okanagan Lake. This condominium was originally designed with a full array of amenities including indoor and outdoor swimming pools, hot tubs, sauna, and fitness rooms. The upper level outdoor courtyard would house a spacious sundeck, an additional swimming pool and hot tub.

The plaza was designed with an infinity swimming pool, spas, sun decks, and associated amenities which were all situated over the parking environment located beneath.

The upper level plaza extended to the edge of the facility stepping down so as not to obstruct views from the amenity areas and was located over residential condominium suites. The lower level suites, served by grade level decks that spill out to the natural riparian areas leading to Lake Okanagan, would offer exceptional walking opportunities.

The City of West Kelowna Planning Department had established height restrictions for this district. One of Alvin Reinhard Fritz Architect Inc.'s (ARFAi's) first assignments was to secure a Development Permit to accommodate high-rise buildings. This was made possible through a "Direct Control" designation which tied the land-use to the details of the architectural design. Ultimately, it was unanimously supported at a public hearing on the basis of excellence demonstrated in the design. Regrettably, the high-rise was not realized due to an ensuing recession.

This condo has beautiful lake views and is located a short walk to Gellatly Bay on Okanagan Lake and to all West Kelowna amenities. The spacious floor plan is over 1,200 sq. ft. and features generously sized rooms throughout. The unit boasts hardwood floors, granite countertops, tile backsplash, and stainless steel appliances. These suites overlook a beautiful and quiet environment including a riparian path to Lake Okanagan.
